My Weekly Inspiration for Make it Crafty - anything but square

Hi everyone this week at Make it Crafty the weekly inspiration is Anything but Square.

I have to admit that I did struggle with this as I don't own any fancy die cut machines, just me and my cuttlebug, so I had to use my circle scallop dies to make the circle card. It is obviously not that big!

anything but square

I decided to use Aussie Santa as he is so cool and I have been wanting to play with him for ages. I just love the versatility of him and how I could make a good old Aussie bloke with his stubbie's and blue singlet.

I have made this card for hubby's best friend and as my Hubby thinks Aussie Santa is ace I thought it was only fair to use him. I was halfway through making my card when I remembered that there is also an additional colour challenge this week polka dots....adding polka dots just seemed wrong so decided to step the colour challenge out!
I did however try out adding some clouds, not perfect but for my first time I am pretty happy with the result.

MIC Products used:
Aussie Santa which comes with the sentiment

Copics used:
Singlet - B37, B32 & B24

So that's it from me today, thanks for stopping by, until next time xoxoxo

Magnolia Down Under Challenges - Love is all around us

Well I suppose with Valentine's day approaching it is only fitting that our challenge this week at Magnolia down Under is 'Love is all around us"..there are so many variations to this theme so I am excited to see the projects that will be entered this week.

I decided to create a little scene for my card and so I masked a few images and this is what I ended up with:

This is one of my favourite Tilda's and probably one of the reasons I started uses Magnolia images again. For some silly reason though I never actually acquired her till last year and it has then taken me this long to ink her up...hangs head in shame! I love that Edwin is looking all love sick here obviously catching all her kisses!

With such a large scene I had to go a bigger card base than normal and even then there was still not enough room to embellish it without taking away from the scene so I decided simple was best. Could also have something to do with the the fact that I am really struggling embellishing my cards lately. I try but I end up taking it all off as I always look back at it and think it looks like they have decided to vomit over my card!!! So I would love to know how you all get those beautiful embellishments on your cards....do you have a starting point and then keep adding around it? How do you know when there is just enough or in some cases not enough, as in the card looking unbalanced?

Now I know I say this each week but you really must be sure to pop over to the main Magnolia Down Under blog and check out our inspiration for you. Each week my fellow teamies manage to amaze me with their gorgeous creations.

So that's it for from me today...Thank you for taking the time to stop by I really appreciate it.

Until next time

Are they not the most beautiful wedding images around. You will see I have merged the Arbour with the wedding couple and have to say I was pleased with the outcome. Magnolia Down Under Challenges - Wings

Good morning all....I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Its nearly the end of the holidays here and I have to say that I am sad. They seem to go so fast and never enough time to do everything you want to do. Oh well short term this term so I am sure before I know it the Term 1 break will be upon us.

So this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we want to see projects with wings...Well the list of possibilities are endless as I am sure you will see y looking at the variety of projects on display MDUC page.

I picked up these papers last week and I just love them and had to use them straight away. The colours are so rich they really appealed to me. So I was flicking through my Tilda's and was going for the obvious butterfly or Tilda with wings when I came across this one of Tilda holding Kookaburra (that I had yet to ink up) and though you beauty, Kookaburra's have wings (just this one has them closed).....

I did not want to cover up all the gorgeous paper so I have gone for minimal embellishments but made them all based around butterfly's keeping in tune with the theme..I even tied the ribbon to make it look lie is was a butterfly in flight, not sure if you would have noticed that without me telling you  lol!
I also went against my norm and did not head for the black or kraft cardstock and reached for some coloured Stampin Up Card that matched in perfectly.

So I hope you like what  have made.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today and reading my post. Until next time.....

Make It Crafty Australia Day Blog Hop

Good evening everyone I hope your enjoying the Make it Crafty Australia Day blog hop so far..If you came here from the lovely Delphine then you are in the right place if not you can begin the hop at Aeryn's page.

It is Australia Day here tomorrow and what a better way to celebrate than to have some Aussie style projects.

I have made a small calendar that you can hang above your desk..

here is a close up of The Gumnut Girl

I went on the search for some Australian papers the other week and lets just say the variety was pretty sparse so I came home with only two sheets to play with. I think this was an error as I was restricting myself so much that it gobbled up my creativity. I coloured the gorgeous Gumnut Flower Girl, because how could I resist, and then  set to work on my card and blank....I shuffled the paper and embellishments around all afternoon and came up with nothing until the last minute when I decided to scrap what I was doing and the idea of the calendar came to me. It is fairly basic, as in not covered in embellishments but every time I tried to add something to it, it just did not look right.

Your next stop on the hop is Stephanie . Now be sure to leave comments along the way as there is come hidden candy on the hop which will be announced next week.

Here is a complete list of the hop for you as well just in case you get lost.

My exciting news!

So I am very excited to share with you that I am now a part of the Make It Crafty (MIC) Design Team. Oh my gosh was I so excited as I love the different ranges of products at MIC. The stamps range from dorky to glam and the chipboard elements well I am love! I have to say I am a little nervous as the talent on this team is beyond amazing ....I kind of guess though that Zoe wants us all for different reasons and that we each have our own thing to bring to the table so to speak.

Today I would like to share with you a card I have made using the gorgeous Crystal. Our challenge this week for the inspiration was to use the colour red and I think I stepped up to this pretty well!!

I had so much fun colouring her up there is something about her that reminds me about my younger sister so it is for this reason I choose her as I have made this card for her (she lives interstate) as a little cheer her up.
Crystal - Colouring Red

I used my copics and prisma pencils (mainly for added some extra highlights to the dress)  to colour her up.
I have created me own grass and flowers and used dots (suing different blues) for the sky.

First Challenge Back at Magnolia Down Under Challenges for 2013

Good morning everyone

I hope you have all had a wonderful festive season spending it in whatever way makes you happy.

This week is our first challenge for 2013 at Magnolia Don Under Challenges and we have decided to ease our way back into challenges but not making it too difficult and having the theme flowers.

I have decided to start my year with something a little different and have made a project rather than a card. I have decided I want to try and do more of this in 2013 so I can decorate my new crafting space....

I went and made an actual flower! My daughter has now decided she loves it and wants to claim it for her room...Or as she says oh mum you can make this into a card by adding a circle card on the back! I think I have a little crafter o my hands!

So there you have it my first MDUC Card this year. I really hope you make the time to join us this week.

Please make sure you visit our blog as there is as always delicious eye candy there for you to drool over.

Many thanks for stopping by and having a look today, I really appreciate every visitor that I receive.

Until next time
