Eeeeek Pink & Lime!

Morning everyone I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Sorry I am a little late with my post, but late is better than nothing at all!

Our challenge at Magnolia Down Under for you this week is Pink & Lime....Well if you are like me it would scare you off! I did struggle with this challenge, my card for you today is my second attempt, but I have to say I am so glad I did not pike and tried again as I just love how the colours turned out together. I think my problem was in my first card was my papers so after changing them and the completely everything else with my card I came up with one that I really like. I know it is not often that I really like a card I make and I am sure if I look closely I will see lots of flaws but I am keeping my blinders on and ignoring that, LOL!

I suppose I better stop waffling along and actually who you my card!

I used acetate as my case and then the cheesecloth as my next layer. Then came the main layer with the pretty papers (that I have had in my stash for a very long time). You can see that it is also a shaker card.   I think the thing that really sealed the deal for me was the gorgeous corner chippies from Make it Crafty, just added that extra element I was after without being over the top! I think this card will make a perfect birthday card for one of Lizzie's friends or even one of my friends.

I experimented with colouring the ocean around Tilda....I used lots of swirls, squiggling lines and sort f blending them all together to soften them.

Now before I go I just want to say that you really need to go check out all the gorgeous creations on offer at the blog. So many of us struggled with this theme this week that I think the "challenge" has been really good us and the results speak for themselves.

Its been a long time since I entered so challenges so I thought I would. Here is what I am going to enter these into:

That it for me today. Thanks you for stopping by, until next time

My Weekly Inspiration for Make it Crafty - anything but square

Hi everyone this week at Make it Crafty the weekly inspiration is Anything but Square.

I have to admit that I did struggle with this as I don't own any fancy die cut machines, just me and my cuttlebug, so I had to use my circle scallop dies to make the circle card. It is obviously not that big!

anything but square

I decided to use Aussie Santa as he is so cool and I have been wanting to play with him for ages. I just love the versatility of him and how I could make a good old Aussie bloke with his stubbie's and blue singlet.

I have made this card for hubby's best friend and as my Hubby thinks Aussie Santa is ace I thought it was only fair to use him. I was halfway through making my card when I remembered that there is also an additional colour challenge this week polka dots....adding polka dots just seemed wrong so decided to step the colour challenge out!
I did however try out adding some clouds, not perfect but for my first time I am pretty happy with the result.

MIC Products used:
Aussie Santa which comes with the sentiment

Copics used:
Singlet - B37, B32 & B24
Hat and shorts - C9, C7, C5 & C3
Can - G27, G05
Skin - E00, E11, E21 & R20
Beard - E29 & E25
Sky - B32, B00, C1 & C3
Grass - G27, G05, YG07 & Y45

So that's it from me today, thanks for stopping by, until next time xoxoxo

Magnolia Down Under Challenges - Love is all around us

Well I suppose with Valentine's day approaching it is only fitting that our challenge this week at Magnolia down Under is 'Love is all around us"..there are so many variations to this theme so I am excited to see the projects that will be entered this week.

I decided to create a little scene for my card and so I masked a few images and this is what I ended up with:

This is one of my favourite Tilda's and probably one of the reasons I started uses Magnolia images again. For some silly reason though I never actually acquired her till last year and it has then taken me this long to ink her up...hangs head in shame! I love that Edwin is looking all love sick here obviously catching all her kisses!

With such a large scene I had to go a bigger card base than normal and even then there was still not enough room to embellish it without taking away from the scene so I decided simple was best. Could also have something to do with the the fact that I am really struggling embellishing my cards lately. I try but I end up taking it all off as I always look back at it and think it looks like they have decided to vomit over my card!!! So I would love to know how you all get those beautiful embellishments on your cards....do you have a starting point and then keep adding around it? How do you know when there is just enough or in some cases not enough, as in the card looking unbalanced?

Now I know I say this each week but you really must be sure to pop over to the main Magnolia Down Under blog and check out our inspiration for you. Each week my fellow teamies manage to amaze me with their gorgeous creations.

So that's it for from me today...Thank you for taking the time to stop by I really appreciate it.

Until next time
