Anyone for Anya

Hello again. Nearly one more day down of school holidays in the crazy Beekman household. This morning I took the kids to see the movie G Force. I thought it was good and the kids seemed to like it. We then went to the scrapbooking store where the kids picked a little craft to do, Elizabeth picked some rhinestones and a glitter pen and has made Michael this award:

 100_2568

It brought a huge smile to his face. Sometimes it is the basics things in life that mean the most to us. Robbie picked some stickers and made a great incomplete picture using his name and stars.

Whilst I was there I stumbled across the new Kaisercraft Paper called Lilac Avenue Collection. I absolutely had to have this paper, regardless of not having a project in mind for it, as I loved the colours and patterns. So of course in today’s card I have used some of it.

The last week of each month over at Anyone for Anya they have a sketch challenge so I also used this for my card today.

The card was actually quick to make, which is great as I am off to see Michaels Grandma later today, with a pleasing result.

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #13

What a wet weekend we have had here in Melbourne. Yesterday was the big Grand Final Day and for all the Geelong supporters out there congratulations on your win in the Grand Final yesterday. I did not watch the match but did get glimpses here and there and from what I could see The Saints played really well and the game was very close the whole way through.

Today  we had a party for my beautiful niece Caitlyn and her Dad, Andy and Mum organised a party with an animal farm. Weather aside it was a great party and the kids loved patting all the animals. I was very disappointed as I forgot to take my camera, I am sure I have missed out on some great scrapbooking pages LOL!

That is enough about me now lets get down to business. Today I decided to play along with Keesha's colour challenge as it suited the stamp that I wanted to use. Here is the colour challenge:

 makeesha-colour-challenge-13

So the card, well I purchased a while back it’s called "to catch a big fish" from the Sugar Nellie range from Funky Kits. The biggest surprise for me with this card is that I came up with the layout all by myself, not sketch's to lead me. I am very happy with the way the card came out. So I suppose I better let you have a look at it LOL!

 100_2552

Well anyhow that is all from for now I have to go make some dinner for the kids and me. I will hopefully be back later tonight or tomorrow with a pic of the card I made for Caitlyn's birthday.
Till next time xoxo

Just Magnolia

Well I am nearly one week down of school holidays and so far so good. We have been very busy this week but enjoying ourselves. Tonight I was supposed to go to Kristy’s for a play but will be crawling up on the couch instead as feeling a bit yuck.

I wanted to get this card posted though as I have really challenged myself with this one. I headed over to Just Magnolia, which I have not been too for a while, and saw this weeks sketch and just knew that I had to do it. I think this is one of those sketches that I will be using over and over. Here is a copy of the sketch:

 Bev's-sketch-7_thumb

And here is the card:

 100_2548

Supplies: Magnolia Stamp, SU Cardstock, SU Watercolour crayons, SU Sentiment stamp, Miscellaneous DS Paper.

Why do you ask, was this card a challenge? It is very colourful and bright. I generally go for more subdued colours and stick to just one or two. When you look at the other ladies cards over at the site you will notice that they are all very colorful and got lots of layers and embellishments, but somehow they manage to work. I have tried it before but I thought my card looked messy and was made by a child. So this card has taken my two days to do as been playing around with the colours and papers. I am pleased with how the card turned out and will definitely be trying to push myself again in the future. Who knows next time I might even be able to put some embellishments on it. Lol!

Anyhow as I said not feeling the best so this is it for today.

Till next time xoxo

Playing with Manga Girl

From the day I set my eyes on this stamp I knew that I had to have it. Unfortunately for me Funky Kits were out of stock so I had to wait. Well she finally arrived yesterday morning and I got to have a play with her today. What can I say about her except that I love her lol! I have used a combination of copic and touch markers for this card and based it on last weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I am very pleased with the way it turned out and am very excited to share this with you. So here it is:

 100_2541

Cute hey? I have seen so many cards lately where the image is sitting with legs hanging out of circle area so I was lucky that the sketch allowed for this.

Supplies: Manga Girl 2 stamp from Sweet Nellie, Impression Obsession Inc stamp,  Copic & Touch Markers, SU Cardstock, Nestabilities and miscellaneous embellishments.

I had a lovely day today, Elizabeth was off at a Netball clinic and my darling husband took Robert off to his grandmas to do some gardening. This afternoon we took the kids for a drive down to the beach and then to the local bistro for dinner. I now have a date with a cup of coffee and one of my favorites shows “Packed to the Rafters”.  Another quite day tomorrow as Elizabeth has her second day of clinic so think I may get some more time to play.

Until next time xox

Ooo La La!

Hi everyone I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are now relaxed and ready to begin another week. It is school holidays here is Australia so I do not know how much playing I will get done in the next couple of weeks. Having said that though my wonderful sister, Sarah, took my kids last night and is spending a day with them in the City so before I go to work this afternoon I do have a bit of time.

On Saturday Kirsty and I hit the From Picture to Page Papercrafters show and although we were a little disappointed with it we did manage to pick up some goodies. So over my next couple of posts I will be showing you what I got.

So here is my first sample:

 100_2528

I have wanted to get this stamp for a while but for some reason I have put it off. I love everything about this card and think I will be duplicating this one for my collection. The dress is from B Line Designs which you can purchase at Heaven Scent Crafts or on her online store. The Ooo La La stamp is also from Heaven Scent. I have cut out and mounted the dress. Here is a closer look.

Supplies: SU cardstock and DS Paper, B Line Design Party Dress stamp, SU Watercolour crayons, Nestabilities.

Anyhow this is all I have time for today I will be back maybe tonight or tomorrow with some more to show.

My samples

As I mentioned in my post yesterday I have recently had the pleasure of making some samples for Deb from Heaven Scent Crafts for a new range of stamps she will be releasing at the From Picture to Page Papercrafts show. These stamps are just to die for. I have been looking around for a long time for some stamps that would suit boys from say 6 onwards. I am not sure of what the brand of these stamps are but they will be available at the show and then on Debs online store or in her shop. So without further ado here they are:

 FC3353C0

Supplies: SU cardstock & ink pads, Stamps for Heaven Scent Crafts, Touch markers

I love this graffiti wall and this little boy is just so divine. I could imagine my own son standing there with his arms crossed like this saying yes which is why I thought the graffiti wall was a great background. I struggled for hours though with the layout of this card as the boy and wall are big images to be using on one card. I think by setting the wall and splashes of colour behind it at an angle have worked. I was rapt with the overall result of this card. For the wall I used my Touch markers (a cheaper version of copic). Although they are good they are no where as good as the Copic Markers but they will have to do until Christmas when I will be getting some copics from my hubby. I then used my ink pads and aqua pen to colour the boy. If you are just starting out and can not afford to be buying different colour inks plus water colour crayons etc this is a great compromise. All you do is press the lid of your SU inkpad down before you open it. This will leave a residue on the inside of the lid which you pick up with your aqua painter. It does take a bit of practice but still not a bad method.  I also cut out the boy and then mounted him with foam tape.

The next card is just using the graffiti wall as the feature. I am reasonably happy with card but cant help thinking that there is something missing. My intention with this card was that you could use some more mature colours and not use the child like images and be able to make this card for a boy in his late teens. Not sure if I pulled it off but I had fun anyhow. You can see that I distressed the side of my cardstock to give the card a bit more of a disheveled look. To achieve this look all you need to do is run the inside of you scissor blade down the edge of the cardstock. Alternatively if you feel like spending money on tools rather than fun stuff like stamps (LOL) you can purchase a distressing tool.

 4370177

Supplies: SU Cardstock & inkpads, SU inkpads, Stamps from Heaven Scent Crafts.

My 3rd card to show you I love as well. This image of the boy on a skateboard is just great. You can see that rather than using the whole graffiti wall I have just used the top of it. I cut the boy out and mounted him with foam tape at the top of the wall to make it look like he is skating along it. I also dabbed around him with some blue ink to give the effect of sky.

  100_2517

Supplies: SU Cardstock, Touch markers, SU Inkpads, stamps from Heaven Scent Crafts & Kaisercraft brads.

The last image is once again of a boy but a little different from the others. I once again have cut him out and mounted him on top of the circle to make it look like he is sitting on top of it.  I have seen a few cards where they have the image sitting out of the circle so I had to give it a try, I think it looks great.  I also just added some shading around him to help give more depth. I used more subdued colours this time and was once again happy with the result.

  100_2516

Supplies: SU Cardstock. SU inkpads, Stamp from Heaven Scent Crafts, miscellaneous embellishments.

So that was a bit of a marathon post but a lot to get through.

Now be sure if you live in Melbourne that you come down to the “From Picture to Page” Papercrafts Show this weekend and go to the stand for Heaven Scent Crafts and check out my cards in real life. I have also had the privilege of seeing some of the other stamps that Deb will be releasing and they are very cute and worth the trip. The show will also showcase other traders and a place where the kids can play and create while you have a look around. Details as follows:

Anyone for Anya

Hello I hope you have had a good day. We have had glorious weather here and I have been out and about enjoying it.

You will soon learn to know that I like doing sketch challenges, especially ones that give you a chance to win some goodies. Today I am posting my entry for the Anyone for Anya challenge. This week there was no sketch we just had to use Pink & White and at least one other colour, excluding skin tone, and of course a stamp from The Greeting Farm. As I often struggle coming up with a layout I look at sketch challenges for inspiration. For this challenge I based my layout on the Mojo Monday 103. Here is my card:

100_2502

Supplies:Miss Anya Stamp, SU cardstock, Nestabilities, Impression Obession, Inc stamp, SU Watercolour Crayons.

I am reasonably happy with how this card turned out. Look forward to the new challenge to be posted on Sunday. I will be back soon with pics of some cards I have made as a demonstration of some stamps that Deb will be releasing this weekend. Till next time xox

The Sugar Bowl Sketch Challenge

This weeks Sugar Bowl sketch was a real challenge for me.

 MarleneSketch3_thumb

I really struggled with the top of the card with having to put the two strips coming down. The other requirement of this challenge was using pink and brown. I have done the card and even though I really hate having to use the two strips I needed to leave them on the qualify for the challenge.

 The Sugar Bowl Sketch

The card is once again using the Gorjuss stamps this one being the Poppy Fields. I have been stepping out of my comfort zone this week and using lots patterned paper and embellishments. I generally like to leave my cards a little more basic.

Here is a look at my card without the two strips coming down and I personally think it looks a lot nicer.

 100_2522

Supplies: SU Cardstock and DS Paper, Stamp – Gorjuss Girl, Poppy Fields, Embellishments – kaisercraft rhinestones and flowers.

I will have for you later today my card that I have done for the Anyone for Anya Challenge, I know been a busy little girl this week, LOL!!

Sarah Kay

I love the Sarah Kay stamps. There is something about these images that makes my heart go all soft and gooey. They are also a great stamp to use the water colour crayons with. Deb who owns Heaven Scent Crafts in Croydon stocks these wonderful stamps, along with some other different stamps. Be sure to check out her website (HeavenScent Crafts) or if you live locally go down and have a look.

Anyhow after my post last night Kirsty asked if I wanted to do this weeks Amy Rysavy sketch.

Amy Rydsvy Sketch

As I am always up for a challenge, and had a quite house with my husband at work and kids tucked up in bed, I got straight to it. Here is what I came up with:

 100_2499

Supplies: SU DS Paper and cardstock, Sarah Kay stamps.

You can seee that I flipped the sketch around. I am still not 100% sure about the colours I picked but do like the layout of this card.

Be sure to pop over to Kirsty’s site during the week (Dark Arts) to see what she comes up with.

Anyhow off to do some more playing before I go off to work this afternoon.

Amy Rysavy Sketch

Hi again. I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and are rested for the new week ahead.

My friends, Kirsty, Deanne and I often find it difficult to catch up for a bit of card making and gossiping because as you know life gets busy and our schedules always seem to clash. Last week we decided rather than letting another week go by we would pick a sketch challenge and all complete it. I am two days late, the deadline was Friday, but I am sure I will be forgiven, lol! We picked the Amy Rysavy sketch

 6a00d834515aa769e20120a5a2a925970c-320wi

When I first looked at it I wished that we had actually looked at the sketch rather than just saying we will do Amy’s but now that I have finished I can say that I am really happy with the result. Here is my card:

100_2493

I actually 3D the flower but rather than doing it as one object I cut it up into individual petals. Here is ma close up:

The Greeting Farm

Recently on one of my many blog surfs I came across the "Edward" stamp. Who would of have thought that I could fuel my twilight addiction through stamping!! .  Here is a pic of him.

100_2490

He is cute isn’t he?

Once I got him I was insistent that I would be able to find a "Bella" stamp so off I went surfing the net again. Unfortunately I was unable to find a stamp that really represents Bella but I did however end back up at The Greeting Farm and came across the Anya range (I missed the first time in my haste to order Edward).  So another love affair begins with the Miss Anya stamps. I have ordered a set but as yet have only managed to finish one card with them. I love that these stamps really target the teenage/younger adults and that I can finally make some cards for my sisters that do not involve flowers!

Here is a card that I made for last weeks Anyone for Anya challenge. I am still not completely sure about the card, hence why I did not enter it, but I thought I would share it with you anyhow.

Supplies: Miss Anya from The Greeting Farm, Kaisercraft patterned paper, markers.

I hope to bring you some more cards using Miss Anya's soon.

My cyber adventures begin

Hello. I think I will be talking to myself for quite a while but have decided that I love to visit blogs and are often left disappointed when they are not updated! So I thought that if I have my own then can spend time creating on this and hopefully sharing my day to day tales and creations with you all. I am not a demonstrator for any company just an ordinary person who does not pretend to be an expert.

My gorgeous friend Kirsty, who’s blog you can find here Dark Arts has got me onto the Gorguss stamps which you can buy through http://www.funkykits.co.uk. I love the uniqueness of these stamps. Here are a couple of cards I have made from them:
