Hi everyone today I am bringing you my latest creation for this fortnights challenge at Mad for Markers.

Stamptacular Sunday - Bugs & Boys

Wow it has already been a whole week since my last post. The weeks just seem to be going by in a blur at the moment. I have another busy week ahead so that means now much time to craft for me, oh well.

Anyhow this week our challenge at Stamptacular is to create and card or project with either Bugs or Boys on it. If you create a card for both on it you will have your name entered two times into the weeks drawing.

This week we are lucky to have two awesome sponsors:

PRIZE: $10 Gift Certificate

AND

SPESCH STAMPS

PRIZE: Winner’s Choice of 3 Digi Images!

The DT were lucky enough to choose a stamp from Spesch Stamps to use for the challenge this week and I could not go past Max, he is so darn cute!

My card is super bright but I think really appropriate for youngish boys. It also means that you dont need lots of embellishments on it as the bright colours bring so much to the card anyhow. I had so much fun colouring this little dude and once again just stopped thinking about what I was doing and just colouring and having some fun. I even for the first time every managed to leave some WHITE in my colouring, lol!

I really struggled with ribbon in the end though I ended up going really simple with this black stringy stuff and the button. Happy with the overall effect.

Now be sure to pop over to Stamptacular and catch the amazing inspiration. We hope to see you join us this week, come on it is a perfect opportunity to get a male card made (as so many of us hate making them).

I am going to enter my card into the following challenges:

I will be back on Tuesday with my card for the new Mad for Markers Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Mad 4 Markers Colouring your own embellishments challenge

Morning everyone, I hope you are all well and keeping warm. I got a big pot of soup on the stove and after a very busy few days I am finally sitting down to read my emails catch up on the blogs etc.

The current challenge at Mad 4 Markers Challenges is to colour up your own embellishments. Such an easy challenge and as I mentioned in my post last week something I do all the time, especially with my flowers.

Here are a couple of examples of some coloured embellishments:

Here I have coloured my chipboard up to match in with he card and then printed off a sentiment and placed it behind the chipboard....

Here I have coloured my cherry blossom to match the card....

So don't by shy colour something up and enter our current challenge and don't forget to stop by the store and check out the new range of The Odd Girl stamps being listed.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Stamptacular Sunday BEARnecessities

Wow another week has passed by which means it is time for some Stamptacular fun! This week our challenge is called "BEARneccessities" and we were lucky enough to be given another image from Teddybo to play with. I know I have said it before but I love these bears they are so darn cute and so much fun to colour.

Our sponsors this week are:

BUNNY ZOE’S CRAFTS
PRIZE: $10 gift certificate

AND

TEDDYBO
PRIZE: Winner’s Choice of 3 Digi Images!

Without sounding egotistical I really like my card that I have for you this week. The sketch I pulled out from my folder very basic but effective I think. I also love how everyone is just using a bit of die punched paper in with the embellishments (you will get what I mean when you see the pic) and the double bow thing so I just had to give this a try!

The colouring I had heaps of fun with again and tried some different things with. I have used some deep purple to go with the red giving it a bit of a dirty feel and for the boots I have added a tinge of red to them to try and pick up some of the reflection from the boots. Now I realise that if I had of done this properly (as in using an artists approach that the reflection on the boots are probably in the wrong place) but to be honest I really don't care!!! Well that's not totally true I do care but I sometimes find that I am trying so hard to get the light direction and this and that right that generally forget to have fun with the colouring.

Ok ok enough rambling from me, boy I seem to be doing that a lot lately, here is my card:

Now dont forget to drop by Stamptacular and check out the amazing DT cards and of course to pop in your entry!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Yep you read it right this week at Magnolia Down Under we want to see Christmas cards....

I know when i saw this challenge initially I admit that I groaned...Not that I dont like making Christmas cards its just that it reminded me that before I know it Christmas will be approaching and that the mad panic will start to set in. I think it is for that reason that this challenge has almost inspired me to get started on my Christmas cards so I don't come to that realisation in October that bugger I only have about 4 weeks to get my cards made. Having said that though as much as I tried to stick with traditional colours for my card I could not embrace those colours (probably as I was not in the Christmas spirit) so I have a mixture of traditional and non traditional colours on my card.

A few weeks ago I had my first attempt at colouring on Kraft and although I liked it I was not in love with it. It seems though that everyone is trying it at the moment as such I have picked up lots of tips by reading every ones blogs. Fellow teamie Kylie posted a card a few days ago where she had coloured on kraft but had used mainly copics. Her card was so beautiful that it inspired me to give it a go again using my copics and just a few prismi's for my highlights. I am pretty happy with how it came out and think that I will be having a play with this technique again soon.

So there you have it my first Christmas card for 2011....One down about a trillion (at least it feels that way) to go!

So I hope you can dig deep and find some Chrissie spirit and join us this week. There is plenty of inspiration on the MDUC blog for you to get you started. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Mad for Markers - Colour your own Embellishments Challenge

I am so excited as today I get to bring you my first Mad for Markers DT Card! Our challenge for this weeks fortnight is colouring embellishments, easy peesy! I have a huge stash of plain white or cream flowers which I will colour to suit my cards.

So for my card today I have coloured up some of my flowers (the cherry blossom by adding a touch of pink the the edges, the dark pink flower ) and my flourish to match in with the papers.

Now I used my dazzling diamond for this card (to the edges of each layer) but as the weather has been so yucky the photo does not really show this just makes it look like it has sand on it! Trust me in real life it is very blingy, LOL!

A bright colourful card for me but so much fun making it and it kind of made me feel that I was somewhere warm, well one can only dream!

Please come and join in with  us at this fortnights challenge. Don't forget to stop by the Mad for Markers Online Store for your Copics, X-Press It Blending Card and stamps from The Greeting Farm!

Copics used:
Skin - E00, E21, E11, R20 & R11

a little bitof fun

Morning (or evening depending on where you are) I hope you have had a great weekend. It has been freezing here this last week so we took the opportunity this weekend to spend some time at home which meant for me (as I was ahead with my DT work) that I could make a card just for the fun of it.

So last week Kellie had a sale of her unwanted stash and I picked up a cute Sweet Pea stamp. I love these images but I find they can be difficult to use as they are out of the normal for me. I have had some old Graphic 45 paper sitting in my stash for a good year now and I keep pulling it out to use but for some reason it never makes the cut and it goes back into the my pile. This time however I thought it matched the image really well so I took inspiration from the colours of the paper and coloured up my image. I love the green and brown together. I had so much fun colouring her up and for once I did not over agonise over the colouring and just let myself go. Now I should do this more often as I am happy with the end result especially how I managed to get the shadowing in for the nose to the eyes (hope you know what I mean).   Anyhow that is enough rambling from me now I will just show you my card.

I have gone very light on with embellishments for  this card as I just think the images are so sweet that it would be a waste to take away it by adding heavy embellishments. The white stamen I made myself after reading on how to on my blogging buddy Eulanda's blog.

I am going to enter my card into the following challenges:
Bunny Zoe - Lace
Craft us Crazy - use fav embillishment or use something new (ribbon my fav embillie and new stamp)
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle - old supplies (my paper)
Stamp Something (happy 3rd Anniversary) - Anything goes
Paper Sundaes - Birthday
Moving along with the times 2 "B's" - bow, brown, butterfly, blossom
Cute card Thursday - its so distressing.

I will be back tomorrow with my first DT Card for Mad for Makers challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

A Sketch for you

For my Magnolia Down Under Post please see here

WOW what a day, I hope you have all enjoyed your mothers day and that you got to enjoy lots of cuddles and fun times with your kiddies.

My day started rather early (seeming we had been out last night to an awesome 80's party) but after giving myself a quick 5 minutes to wake up I could enjoy the kids and the lovely presents they had given me (even getting to add some of the headache balm to my temples to soothe my slightly throbbing head, LOL!!)....

Hubby went all out this morning and made a cafe style (as he should he was a chef) cooked breakfast with yummy spinach, tomatoes, poached egg and bacon..We had a really nice late lunch with mum, dad and my sister and then have come home and done some chillin!

Anyhow onto this weeks Stamptacular Challenge, a sketch! As you all would know I LOVE my sketch challenges and the we have for you was lots of fun to use.

This week our sponsors are:

The Stamp Fairy who are generously donating the winner with 4 digis of their choice and;

MY FAVORITE THINGS who are donating a  $25 Gift Certificate to our lucky winner.

The Stamp Fairy provided some images for us to play with for our challenge this week and I had so much using Patsy. It was also a great excuse to bring out the bright colours...Now I have been playing around with my playing (trying desperately to add dimension, folds etc in clothing) so you have to excuse the rather amateurish attempt here....

I have added sparkles to the water and also around the edge of that panel. I think the rest of it is reasonable self-explanatory.

So be sure to pop by Stamptacular and check out the gorgeous work there and come join us with our sketch if you can this week.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Magnolia Down Under Challenges - So Krafty

Good morning everyone hopefully you are all enjoying your weekend and if you are a mother HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! I am typing this post in advance but I know that I will be spoilt with love from my kids and cant wait to see their handmade gifts for me. I think about now I will be sitting in bed having cuddles and a cup of coffee...

So the challenge at Magnolia Down Under this week is So Krafty. Yep we want to see some Kraft cardstock on your card, how easy is that.

I LOVE Kraft (one of my normal go to colours) so I found this challenge not so difficult. I did however challenge myself to use the Jack & Jill papers. I am rapt with how this card has come out using Kylie's sketch she had on her blog last week. I don't think i have ever made a card with such soft colours before. I did however go slightly overboard with my colouring and think that the colours are perhaps a tad dark for the rest of the card but oh well.... I suppose I should stop rabbiting on and actually show you my card so you know what the heck I am talking about, LOL!!

This card is for my mummy for mothers day. My mum is the best (I know we all say that about our mums) but it is true. My kids adore her and love nothing better when Nannie picks them up from school on a friday. She is always there to help us when we need it (within reason of course!) and is very thoughtful of us all. Love you mummy, Happy Mothers Day xoxo

Sorry for the mushy bit there, lol! I have added heat stick powder and dazzling diamonds to the edges of my patterned paper and some kinder glitz to the flowers. Here is a pic that shows it a bit better.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges:

So anyway there you have it, my card for this weeks challenge. Now be sure to pop over to MDUC and check out all the amazing talent and if time permits join in with our challenge this week.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Stamptacular Sunday Challenges - Mums the word

Ooops sorry this post is a little late but I remembered half way through the night that I forgot to post it. Anyhow this week our challenge at Stamptacular Challenges is "Mums the Word". Yep that easy we just want to see creations that have the word mum, mother, mom on it somewhere.

We are sponsored this week by

PRIZE: $20 Gift Certificate for PRODUCT ONLY! Winner pays shipping!

Some of you may remember me telling you a few weeks ago that my great friend Dee has become a Stampin Up! demonstrator and that she is now running card classes each fortnight. Anyhow with Dee starting up Sampin Up! I have been inspired to bring out my stash of Stampin Up! stamps and make some cards. Today's card is so not my normal style anymore (as in no pretty little girl/boy image on it) just some flowers. Having said that though I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and using my copics to colour the flowers, i think they are quite striking. I think I am inspired to bring out my stash more often as it is always nice to do something different and something that is relatively quick to make.

The flowers have been cute out and are actually mounted but the photo does not give such a great impression of this. In fact my photo is a little blurry cant quite work out why.

Anyhow that's all I have for you today. Be sure to stop by the Stamptacular and check out the cards and if you have time we would love to see you join in the fun this week.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Some more exciting news

Wowzers feels like I have been posting heaps on here with exciting news lately and today I have some more to share. Last week I was made a DT member at Mad for Markers, yippee!!! We all know how much I love my copics and I love the challenges that they have over at the challenge blog! Be sure to pop over to the store and check out the great range of copics. Sammi also has the gorgeous range of stamps. Thanks Sammi for having me on the team and I look forward to getting to know all the ladies on the team.

Hubby is at golf today so were heading into the city to see my sister and let the kids hit the pavements (something we don't have much of up here so they find it a novelty) with their scooters. Should be a nice day and looking forward to catching up with my sis.

I will be back later today with my Stamptacular post.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time
