Ooops I have a confession!

Last year when Kellie (Tickled Pink Stamps) brought out the Stamping Bazaar range I was jumping up and down in my chair with excitement and quickly placed my order imaging all the gorgeous cards I would make with it. Well quite a few months later I have finally managed to make my first card using it. I am not sure why it took so long, I have even had the image sitting there all coloured up waiting to be used. Anyhow yesterday I decided that I was going to use it and enter Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges (something I have also been wanting to do for a long time now). There current challenge is a nice and easy one this month, anything goes.

Armed with this weeks sketch from Friday Sketchers off I went and this is what I came up with.

A pretty basic card but seeming it is for a male I did not want to go too heavy with embellishments.

Hi there, I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. We have a long weekend here in Australia which I love. It is nice knowing that there is no saturday morning sports or going through the morning routine for school and to be able to doing things at a lazy pace.

Yesterday Michael worked so after spending most of the day cleaning I decided to sit down and make a card. It is my gorgeous friend Kirsty's daughter birthday next week so I sat down to make her a card. I looked for sketches and although there are plenty of great ones out there none of them were pulling me in so I decided to think outside the box and come up with my own. I have to say that I am quite happy with the layout of this card.

I wanted to use the Darby & Penelope stamp as I can imagine Elizabeth and Kira sitting on a fence of wall and having a good yarn like a couple of old ladies! They have known each other since they were born (Kirsty and I met through mothers group) and although they may not see each other all the time when they do it is never strained.

Cold, wet and windy day brings a card!

I hope this post find everyone well today.

It has been a cold wet horrible day here in Melbourne today so after being at school this morning I came home and felt like hibernating and making a card. Was very naughty of me to do as I was out all day yesterday, having fun though with Dee shopping at Ikea, so had not done any cleaning so in retrospect I should have been cleaning today not making a card. Oh well need to let it give sometimes!

Anyhow I will keep this quick as I have some soup and dinner on the stove that I need to tend too. Here is today’s card:

 

Unfortunately as the weather is so yuck when I tried to take the photo by the window it was too dark and now that I have put the flash on it has made the green look at lot brighter than what it actually is. It is for my brother, Ben, who’s birthday is in a few weeks. I always struggle with masculine cards so was happy that I actually managed to make one ahead of time.

My baby's turning 8!

As I mentioned in my last post it is my baby girls 8^th Birthday tomorrow. I still see her as my baby so often when I look at her these days and see such a confident bubbly girl I shake my head in amazement and wonder how did we get here. Lizzie darling I know that you want read this, or who knows maybe you will, but I am so proud of you sweetheart with all that you have already managed to achieve in your short life, I look forward to watching you continue to grow. Happy Birthday for tomorrow princess xo

Sorry for my rambling then but I just wanted to share with you all how proud I am of my baby! Goes without saying that the card I am brining you today is for my special girl. I was looking through the challenges trying to get some inspiration when I came across this weeks challenge at Stamp Something, a sketch.

 

I then popped over to Anyone for Anya (lots of layers) and saw Stacey’s card with lots of bright colours. Straight away I was inspired and went off for a search in my papers for the brightest, girly colours I could find! This is what I came up with:

  

I love the Heidi among flowers stamp and think it matches this card well. The papers are pink (not quite as dark as in photo) background from My Little Shoebox-Little ladies-Jana, Blue strip Basic Grey and the green is also from My Little Shoebox, Imagine a forest-get the camera and the chocolate chip from Stampin Up. I have also used my copics for colouring, Apron Strings Fiskars punch, kaisercraft rhinestones, spellbinders Nestabilities, kaisercraft ribbon and love heart pin from Quixotic.

I have lots of cards I need to make this week so hopefully I will be back later today with another card to show you.

Phew what a weekend!

We have just had a long weekend and what a busy one of that did we had! Saturday night we had an engagement party for some good friends (my hubby and I are their best man and matron of honor) and did not get home till 2am. It was a great night with everyone dressing up with a bit of country flair. It is so good to see them both so happy with each other lets hope they have many years of happiness ahead of them, they both deserve it.

After a lazy Sunday morning we headed off to another dear friends house to celebrate her eldest daughters 8^th birthday. The kids had an absolute ball. That night us and another family headed back to Dee’s to have some champers, takeaway and good laughs. It is so nice to have such good friends that make you feel loved and know just the right thing to say so girls if you are reading this mwah you are the best!

Yesterday we headed down to see my hubby’s grandma’s before heading off on a drive to see the all the autumn leaves at the wineries in the Yarra Valley, unfortunately we were about a week too late and the leaves had already turned and dropped but the drive was nice anyhow. Last night we went to mum and dads to celebrate my sisters’ birthday which was also a great night.

So you can see why today after doing my cleaning and washing I wanted to sit back and have a nice relaxing cuppa!!

The card I am bringing you today I made for the couple whose engagement party we went to on Saturday night. They had a country theme for their party so I wanted to make a card that blended in. The image fits perfectly and I think the papers do too. The card is a lot brighter than what I would normally do for an engagement card but as I said I wanted to keep in the theme.

 

This card I will be entering into Friday Sketchers and Stamp Something (charmed somethings).

 

 

I have used Patterned paper from October afternoon and Cosmo Cricket, cardstock Stampin Up, stamp is by Sarah Kay, colouring is done using water colour papers, not sure where I got the charm from and the buttons I had in my stash.

The Pink Elephant meets Stamp Something

After being out early for netball and Auskick I decided a lazy afternoon at home was in order. So after lunch (we have a cooked lunch on Saturday before Michael goes to work for the evening ) and a bit of cleaning and washing I sat back and started to make a card.

As I was doing my usual surf through my fav blogs I discovered that I had made the top 3 at Anya Ink, YEY! I was quite surprised as this challenge was meant to be until next Friday (Kristy accidentally closed it a week early and as such has re-opened it and will draw another 3 next Thursday)  but it gave me a huge boost.

I have seen some of the super talented Aussie ladies using paper doilies in their creations lately and decided to give it a go therefore that was one of the basis of my card. The other being that I wanted to partake in this weeks challenge at The Pink Elephant (nature) and Stamp Something (stitching) but did not really have a sketch in mind. I decided to push myself and just make up my own layout and not bother about doing a sketch and I have to say I surprised myself (although it is very basic).

 

 

The image is Swiss Pixie from All That Scraps, Paper is Cosmo Cricket and the cardstock is Stampin Up. I have added so faux stitching, coloured with copics and also distressed my edges. Think that is about it.

You will once again have to excuse the lighting on the pick (it has also not really picked up the shadings too well in colouring) but up here in the Dandenong’s it has been overcast and gloomy all day. Think this is going to be the story for quite a while now with Winter approaching.

 Anyhow I better be off I need to go decorate Robbie’s cake for his party tomorrow.

A special card for my special boy...

My little baby is turning 6 soon and with school holidays fast approaching I thought I better make his card so he will not see it. I can’t believe how quick the last 6 years have gone just feels like yesterday that I was holding him for the first time now he is a big cheeky monster that runs around the house at a million miles an hour!

I came across a challenge blog the other day called Just Christmas and Birthday Cards. I think the name is pretty self explanative. I have used their current sketch for the base of Robbie’s card. I will also be entering this card in Stamp Something current challenge – Distressing.

  

I have used the Sir Dunstan stamp from High Hopes as when Robbie saw this stamp a few months ago he begged me to make his birthday card using this stamp. I have had fun colouring the image using my watercolour pencils. Paper is from Cosmo Cricket and the cardstock is all Stampin Up. Of course I have also distressed my edges. A fairly simple card lets hope he likes it!

Sweeping my way into lots of challenges

So I got my new windswept stamp last week from Funky Kits (it is one of those stamps that I hummed and ahhed about for ages and I must say I am so pleased I finally got it) and have been aching to get it out and play with it. I actually coloured it on Sunday afternoon and then put it aside waiting for some mojo to arrive!

So this morning after I dropped the kids to school I came home pumped up the music cleaned the house, did some washing and then sat down with a clear head. I knew that I wanted to do this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers so that is where I headed straight away. I saw that one of the DT Members, Claudia, had done a gatefold card which inspired me to follow suit as I have not done a gatefold in ages. I am also entering this into this weeks Stamp Something challenge (something Green and Cream), Totally Gorjuss (something Sweet, becuase the colours in the papers remind me of a sweet lolly and the also think the image is very sweet), and The Pink Elephant which is Spring themed (seeming spring is renowned for being windy).

I have to say that I love the papers and can not believe that the groovy guava that I had hanging around matched the colour of the flowers in the patterned paper perfectly. The patterned paper is called I’m yours by Vintage Valentine. The lace I picked up from Dandenong market a few weeks ago at an absolute steal for $1 per metre! I have also used groovy guava double stitched ribbon and watercolour pencils. I really struggled to come up with a flower embellishment so I cut out some of the flowers from the patterned paper and had mounted it on, here is a closer look:

 

 

I love the simplicity of this card and will be putting it aside as for my mum, for mother’s day, as she has always loved the gatefold cards.

Well it is now 3pm so I better get this posted before I have to pick up my cherubs from school.

just a quick one today...

What a week we have had! I hope if you live in Victoria that your home was not too damaged in the storms this weekend. I have never seen anything like it before the hail stones were the size of golf balls!

I had a great LONG weekend by taking the kids into their daddy’s work for dinner (my husband is a head chef and they think it is great to go and be able to walk through the kitchen and have special attention!) with my mum, dad and sister Sarah. We had so much fun talking about things from many years ago it was great to share the memories and have a good old chuckle together. Michael was home Sunday and Monday so we did a few things with the kids which was lovely to do.

I have been sick this week so my enthusiasm has not really been in cards. I did make one on Saturday for last week’s Mojo Monday but I spilt coffee all over it before I got a chance to take a photo! The card I have for you today I made on Sunday but have only just had the chance to take a picture and do this post today.

The card is for this weeks over at Sketch Saturday together with this weeks the challenge over at Stamp Something which was to Stamp something Girly.

 

 

You can see the card is very girly with the pinks and grey plus the bumble bee image. I am still making my way through the set I got from All That Scraps the other month on sale for half price. The paper is by October Afternoon – This Little Piggy and the stamp as I mentioned is a Sugar Plum kid by CC Designs. I have also used my copics for colouring, some lace I had in my stash, kaisercraft rhinestones and as per normal I have added some faux stitching.

Mojo Monday

Hi all, just a quick post today as I need to scoot off soon to pick the kids up from school.

I came home from school this morning and had the enthusiasm to make a card, YEY!!! So I went straight to Mojo Monday as they always provide a great sketch.

 

 

 This card also includes my entry into this weeks challenge over at Stamp Something, which is something spring. I think this card has a spring feel to it with the fairy sniffing the flowers, the flower on the lace and the contrast with colours of the paper, almost as the dark is going from winter to the green which is the start of spring. That’s my interpretation anyhow!

I picked up this paper a few weeks ago and it is by Graphic 45, Botanticabella Collection-Secret Garden. The stamp is fairy on tiptoes from Lili of the Valley Ltd, lace I had laying around in my stash, apron strings punch from fiskars, some faux stitching, distressing of the edges, pearls from kaisercraft and my watercolour pencils.

So there you have it. I hope you have all had a great start to the week. You never know tonight I may have some left over enthusiasm to make another card!

Stamp Something Sketch

My goodness it is hot here in Melbourne today with the temperature hovering over 40C˚, with not expecting the temperature to go below 30C˚ tonight. As we live in a bushfire prone area we decided to leave the hill for the day so we escaped the heat and went shopping to get the kids shoes and lunch boxes for the beginning of the school year. I can not believe that my little baby, Robert, is heading off to school this year!

So I was sitting at my desk thinking can I be bothered making a card when I came upon this weeks sketch over at Stamp Something:

 

And this is what I came up with:

 

Now I have to  admit that once I finished sticking the card down I was feeling a bit hot and bothered and was wondering if I could get away with no real embellishments when my hubby came up to me and looked and said that he really like the card, so the decision was made! In hindsight perhaps I should have attempted to add something.

I have used stamp from Sugar Nellie range which you can purchase at Funky Kits, SU cardstock, red riding hood, pink pirouette and chocolate chip. Image was colored using my copics and I have added faux stitching.

I think I might go and attempt to make another card as it is way to hot to even attempt to go to sleep.
