Something a little different

WOW I have seem to be making a lot of cards lately, I have to say that I am enjoying my Mojo while its here!

Just a quick post today as I am getting a pretty bad headache so better get away from this computer.

Mad for Markers monthly challenge this month is CRAZY HAIR. Now at first I coloured up an image from The Greeting Farm with pink hair, which my daughter just LOVED but for some reason I just looked at it and thought blah, what can I make with that, LOL! Having said that though I may look at it again in a few days and love it and be inspired to make something with it. Anyhow I then decided to pull out my Sweetpea stamp, which has been sitting in my drawer gathering dust since I brought it, and got stuck into it. I

My next biggest struggle was to find some paper that would go with this. Not so easy when the blue is so prominent but I think I managed to find something.

Not super duppa happy with how this turned out thinks it needs something more but I was very reluctant to add too much as I did not want it to take away from the image which really should be where the eyes focus.

I have used the following copics:

Hair - B02, B05, B24 & B37
Dress & Butterfly - V99, V93, V95 & V91
Skin -E00, E11, E21 & R20

I am also going to enter this into the following:

Copic creations - Copcis + something new (the stamp as never been used)

Anyhow I am going to get going now can feel the head pounding some more.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time xoxox

Magnolia Down Under Challenge 81 - embossing

Wow we are facing a super hot day here in Melbourne. With the temperature expecting to reach 40 we decided that today was a good day to stay home and keep cool.  This means of course that I was able to make a card, yippee!

I saw the challenge over at Magnolia Down Under this week being embossing and then saw Just Magnolia & Hanglar & Stranglar Challenges of going spotty and knew that I had to make a card to suit these.

When I was in a Maxine's this week I saw the paper which I have used and fell in love with it instantly. It surprises me a little as it is not my normal colours but I just knew that I had to get it and use it so I was pleased that as the reverse side of it (the pink strip) had polka dots on it could be used today. Probably just easier to show you my card so you can understand what I mean!!!!

I am so disappointed with the photo ( it was try number 5) but with the sun being so bright today being outside the photo just went really really bright and then inside you just don't quite get the true colours. Anyhow you will notice that these are not my normal colours!

Once again I had so much fun making my card, just adding a bit here and a bit there (maybe a little to much has been added!). I have used dew drops as the bubbles she is blowing. The embossed sections are the Kraft card stock which I used my cuttlebug embossing folder for. I think the rest is pretty self explanatory.

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - The Sketch
Crazy for Challenges - Vintage or Shabby Chic
Paperplay Challenges - Layer it up
Stampin for the Weekend - getting warmed up ( I think these colours are very summery)
Truly Scrumptious - Brown, Pink & Green

Well I best be going now I feel so lazy today having just sat around trying to keep cool.

Thanks for stopping by until next time xoxo

Stamp - Tilda blowing bubbles
Paper - Daydream from the strawberry kisses collection by Prima & Stampin Up Cardstock

New Tilda comes out to play

Wow can someone tell me where the days are going? One minute it is Monday and then with a blink of the eye the weekend is quickly approaching. I hope all my fellow Aussies had a fantastic Australia Day yesterday.

On Tuesday I went to Maxine's (Picture 2 Page in Lilydale) and she was super excited as she had just received her shipment of the new Magnolia's. Now of course me being me could not resist and had to buy one (only one how good am I!) and it was Magnolia holding Hearts. I am not sure what it is about this stamp that appealed to me so much but it was jumping straight out at me.

Anyhow today when I got home from shopping we still had no power (maintenance) so I decided to ink up my new Tilda believing that I would leave it at that. To my surprise my power came back on just after I had finished colouring her in so I thought why not make a card (the kids were outside playing nicely and for once it was peaceful!). After much procrastination this is what I came up with:

It is using the sketch from CLP Challenges this month combined with a few other challenges:

Copic Oz - LOVE
Magnolia Down Under - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (well the ribbon I actually pulled off a really old card as I knew it would match my papers perfectly! I also resisted the urge to cut up a fresh piece of paper and reused some Bo Bunny Paper I have had lying around for a while)
Stamp Something - Cute Somethings
Pile it on Challenges - Love is in the Air
Creatalicious Challenges - Ribbon with some LOVE!

I decided not to put too much embellishments on my card as I really liked the layout and did not want to hide it behind lots of flowers etc.

Well I better be off and start getting the kids organised for the evening and getting myself ready for work tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time xoxo

I have been wanting to play along with the new Tickled Pink Stamps Challenges since it started a few weeks ago but with the kids still being on holidays at the moment I seem to keep running out of time. This week however I have managed to get a card made for the current challenge, a sketch (my favorite type of challenge). It was also a great opportunity to bring out my Lil Lolita's for a play....

I had also seen this weeks challenge over at Totally Gorjuss is Hot Hot Hot and seeming I was in a bright mood today some bright colours tickled my fancy.

I am sorry for the short post but it is the crazy time of day here and I want to get this posted before I run out of time.

Ooops I have a confession!

Last year when Kellie (Tickled Pink Stamps) brought out the Stamping Bazaar range I was jumping up and down in my chair with excitement and quickly placed my order imaging all the gorgeous cards I would make with it. Well quite a few months later I have finally managed to make my first card using it. I am not sure why it took so long, I have even had the image sitting there all coloured up waiting to be used. Anyhow yesterday I decided that I was going to use it and enter Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges (something I have also been wanting to do for a long time now). There current challenge is a nice and easy one this month, anything goes.

Armed with this weeks sketch from Friday Sketchers off I went and this is what I came up with.

A pretty basic card but seeming it is for a male I did not want to go too heavy with embellishments.

Cupcake Challenges - Something New (As I had never used Hansel before I still consider him new)

Well I am now off to spend sometime with my hubby. We have lost our kids for the day so we are going to enjoy some kid free time together.

My first Whiff of Joy Challenge Card

Just before I started my Christmas cards last year I brought a few a couple of Whiff of Joy Stamps which have been sitting in the corner staring me down crying out "use me...use me", LOL! A couple of nights ago I sat down and coloured up one of them and then today (after the kids begged me to have a quiet day at home) I decided to follow the current challenge at Whiff of Joy Challenges, a sketch.

I really really struggled with the embellishments on this card and not quite sure about them. Having said that though I don't hate it and it is slowly growing on me.

I had so much fun just slowly doing this card today, sitting down doing a bit leaving it and then coming back.

I am also entering this into this weeks challenge at Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes

Anyhow off to help Robbie build some of his Knex now!

I'm back and so glad to have made a card.....

Wow how quickly that silly season seems to have passed this year. I hope you have all had a great christmas and new year and ready for the year ahead. We had a lovely christmas day with the kids at home in the morning before heading off to my mum and dads for the afternoon where we over indulged in wine and food!! In the evening we came home attempted to put some of the trillion presents away before flopping on the couch, LOL!

The day after Boxing Day we went away with Kirsty, Dan and their kids as well as Dee, Jamie and their kiddies camping down at Port Arlington. I had been slightly panicking about the weather for weeks before we left (we have been having a very wet summer here in Melbourne this year) but am pleased to say that we had no rain. We had such a great week hanging out altogether and cant wait for next Christmas to venture out again together. I am so lucky to have such great friends in my life they understand me and are never too busy to have a chat or listen to my woes! Best of all I know that they will always have my back no matter what.

We are now obviously home and back into the swing of things, although not looking forward to going back to work next week, and as such I have actually managed to have a play. The other day I was as Maxine's (Picture 2 Page in Lilydale) with Dee and Kirsty and she had some gorgeous new sugar nellie stamps and I could not resist this Woodland Fairy. I LOVE Sugar Nellie Stamps and am so pleased to see she has got them in, if you live locally you will have to pop by as she is slowly building up a great variety of stamps and I have good word that there are more coming.

Anyhow as I had a new suagar nellie to play with I thought it was only appropriate to play along with the current The Sugar Bowl challenge which is a great sketch with the theme of embossing.

I have actually kept my card quite simple today as I really wanted the beautiful image to pop and not get hidden or taken over by lots of embellishments. Seeming I have not touched a copic in a couple of weeks I was pleased with my colouring attempt too!

Here is the sketch which I have followed. You can see I have flipped the centre panel.

So there you have it my first card for 2011! Now the kiddies are still of course on holidays so I probably want be here as often as I would like at the moment but once they are back at school I will be right back into it.

Thanks for stopping by until next time xoxo
