Anyone for Anya challenge

Hello again, I hope this post finds you all well. We have enjoyed a lovely wintery day here by rugging up and going to the market and then spending a very lazy afternoon inside. I have to say as much as the warmer weather is nice I do enjoy these days when you can sit back a bit and not feel guilty as it is too wet to be outside.

Today is Anyone for Anya Challenge day and it is my third week as Guest DT. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges. This week is a sketch from our very own Dawny, and once again she has provided a good one.

As it was cold when I made this card I went for darker colours. The papers I have used are from the Queen Bee collection by Pink Paislee, Kraft, Black and White cardstock from Stampin Up. I have coloured my image using my watercolour pencils and also a bit of paper toling, then I cut her out and put her on a slightly inked paper doilie. I have some hand stitching, kaisercraft pearls and black sprays  which I picked up from spotlight last year. To keep with the lace effect of the paper doilie I have used my lace punch from Fiskars.

So there you have it my third card only one more week to go :(

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, I am off to go snuggle up on the couch with my hubby.

Until next time xoxo

Lil Lolita meets Tuesday Sketches

Hi there. I hope you have all been having a good week. Mine has been quite busy but nothing really exciting to tell, sorry! I know last time I was here I said that I hoped I would be back soon after as had lots of sketches wanted to get stuck into, but much to my disappointment I have just not had the chance.

Did I tell you in my last post that my gorgeous friend Dee has booked our tickets for Eclipse, now that is exciting!

The card I am brining to you today is using a Lil Lolita Stamp which you can purchase from Tickeled Pink it also combines this weeks sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches:

My first try of colouring (using watercolour pencils) this image which is called Ivy, think she needs a bit more practice. I have also used paper doilie which is also from Tickled Pink, ribbon was from my ribbon drawer, kaisercraft pearls, faux stitching, grey patterned paper is Autumn Blossom from Pink Paislee, blue patterned paper is Lacey Bay from kaisercraft to which I slightly distressed.

Hope you all have a great night.

Until next time xoxo

Double Up

Hi again. I know 2 posts in one day but really I made this card the other day for my GDT  at Anyone for Anya, so does it count?

You will notice by the heading that this weeks challenge requires you to use 2 images on your card. Luckily for me I have my CC Design Sugar Plum spring kit which gives me lots of images to play with. I decided to use the boy and girl as I wanted to use my bench that I brought at the same time as the spring kit but not actually inked up yet.

Once I got started though boy did I struggle. I was trying to use a sketch for the layout but after trying everything to make it work I scrapped the sketch and the papers and started again.

I am happy with how the card came out and the layout ended up being none other than my own, LOL! As the papers are quite bright I thought I would keep all the girly embellishments off this card and try to make it a card that you would give your hubby/partner.

I have also used my copics (for colouring) inks for background, Hot Punch PP from October Afternoon, Study Hall PP from Cosmo Cricket, kaisercraft pearls, sentiment from Kraftin Kimmie, faux stitching and doodling. Ended up being very basic indeed.

Lots of great sketches I am itching to get stuck into this week so hopefully I will be back in a day or two with some more for you.

Until next time xoxo

Tickled Pink.

What a great day I have had. My hubby woke me up this morning with a nice cuppa in bed which I got to enjoy with a book while smelling the bacon and eggs cooking. It was soooooo nice!!! He then decided that it was my day off (being a Sunday) and told me to go play with my cards while he went outside and played in the garden. I know very spoilt!!

Other than that I do not have much other interesting stuff to tell you so will pop straight into it and show you my card.

This card I have done is for the monthly challenge over at Tickled Pink and it is a sketch at that:

What do you think? I had to search the back of my drawers to find the eyelets, been so long since I have used one!

Other than that I have used Clara from the Kraftin Kimmie stamps, coloured her with my watercolour pencils, blue floral paper is Report Card by October Afternoon the other patterned paper is Glacier from Basic Grey, pearl pin from Quixotic, lace and ribbon was in my stash. I have lightly distressed the edges applied a little bit of faux stitching.

Well I am going to make a run for it now and go and have some cuddles with my little man.

I will be back later tonight with my GDT card for Anyone for Anya.

Until next time xoxo

A Thank You

If you are in Melbourne I hope you are enjoying the gorgeous weather today. I have been out and about and enjoying the feeling of the sunshine on my back (I reckon it has to be one of the best feelings).

The card I am showing you today is for my son’s wonderful teacher. Robbie has entered his schooling life this year and has had some difficulties but his teacher has been fantastic. We are so pleased that he has her and grateful for all the extra effort she has given. We are going to give her this card with a bunch of flowers to try and show our appreciation. I made this card yesterday afternoon but ran out of energy to do a post.

The card’s layout is based on this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers:

I will also be entering this card into Quixotic Challenges - Let Your Garden Grow! Basically you had to make your own flowers. I came across a tutorial on how to make these flowers about a month ago and have been itching to give it a go. Unfortunately I can not give credit to where it belongs as I have lost my slip of paper that I had written it down on and it was not on one of my regular blogs as I have checked. If however you do know where the tut can be found please let me know so I can post a link here. Here is some close ups of the flower:

Being the toughest of critics that I am I am convinced the flower is too big and does not fit in well and think that I may remove it. In fact here is a pic without the flower tell me which you prefer?

I have used my watercolour pencils for colouring the image, October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket patterned papers, old olive Stampin Up cardstock, kaisercraft pearls, paper doily I got from local $2 shop, Sarah Kay stamp, Flowers Soft, sentiment from Kraftin Kimmie, scalloped punch and faux stitching.

Well I better dash only got ½ hour to get organized before need to pick up the kids from school.

Until next time xoxo

Yey I am Guest Designing over at Anyone for Anya

Wow Mr Random Thingy must like me at the moment as it picked me to be a Guest Designer over at Anyone for Anya, yey!! I love this challenge blog and it made it easier for me finishing my stint up at Papertake Weekly knowing I had this to come to for the next 4 weeks. I look forward to joining in with the AFA DT for the month.

We have had a busy weekend here in The Beekman household with Saturday morning sports and sleepovers. My wonderful sister Sarah decided that she wanted the kids for a sleepover so we packed them off yesterday afternoon and then enjoyed some much needed us time. We were however a bit lazy and just went out for dinner then came home and watched a movie.

This morning we headed off to pick the kids up and then headed over to the footy oval where hubby played his fortnightly match. I love the atmosphere of the local footy and the kids get a real kick out of seeing Daddy play.

So this week over at AFA the challenge is “Don’t be Square” and I have to say this was a challenge for me as I have fallen into the trap of making all my cards square. I knew though it was the prefect opportunity to make my first circle card and was a bit shocked on how small they are. However having said that it takes away a lot of the anguish you have about laying out your card and embellishments as you don’t have much room to work with and as a result they end up being a quick and easy card to make. Well I suppose I better stop blubbering and show you my card:

As I said nice and simple. I have used Miss Anya from the dressy collection, copics markers for colouring, black and white cardstock, patterned paper is Creative Imaginations-Flourish Poppy, ribbon and lace had laying in my stash and the hair pin with glass beads I got from Quixotic. I finished off the card with some doodling using my white and black pens.

Be sure to pop over to AFA and have a peek at the other DT’s fantastic work.

Better dash we are now off to my mum and dads for dinner.

Until next time xoxo

Cold, wet and windy day brings a card!

I hope this post find everyone well today.

It has been a cold wet horrible day here in Melbourne today so after being at school this morning I came home and felt like hibernating and making a card. Was very naughty of me to do as I was out all day yesterday, having fun though with Dee shopping at Ikea, so had not done any cleaning so in retrospect I should have been cleaning today not making a card. Oh well need to let it give sometimes!

Anyhow I will keep this quick as I have some soup and dinner on the stove that I need to tend too. Here is today’s card:

Unfortunately as the weather is so yuck when I tried to take the photo by the window it was too dark and now that I have put the flash on it has made the green look at lot brighter than what it actually is. It is for my brother, Ben, who’s birthday is in a few weeks. I always struggle with masculine cards so was happy that I actually managed to make one ahead of time.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenges – Buttons

Sketch & Stash – patterned paper new as well as one of my shades of grey copics

Stamp Something – Birthday Somethings

The paper I have used is from October Afternoon – Report Card, stamp is from Kraftin Kimmie, buttons I had in my stash, apron strings punch from Fiskars, ribbon and pearls from kaisercraft, spellbinders Nestabilities labels four, cardstock from Stampin Up, copic markers for colouring and last but not least some faux stitching.

Well I better dash.

Until next time xoxo

My last GDT Papertake Weekly Guest card

Hi there after getting two posts in one day lat week I did not manage to get back again. As I mentioned it was Elizabeth’s birthday on Thursday and then the rest of the week and the weekend was spent catching up with everyone for her birthday and mothers day. If you are in Australia and I think also the US I hope you had a wonderful mothers day and that your kiddies (big or small) managed to make you feel special.

Today I am bringing you my last card as a Guest Designer at Papertake Weekly :-(  This weeks challenge at PTW is “Shiny, Sparkly & Special”. I have used lots of bling on my card but in subtle ways:

(The photo has actually picked up the glitter heaps it does not look so harsh in life)

The actual card base is metallic cardstock, you should also be able to see that I have added sparkles to the dress, one of the borders and some gems as well. Here is a closer look at the dress:

This dress, by B Line Designs, I picked up from Heaven Scent Crafts last year and I have to admit have been used a couple of times and then laid neglected.  I used my watercolour pencils to colour it and then I cut it out and mounted it to make it pop from the page before adding some glitter to the lines so it shines ever so lightly (almost like a chiffon layer on top, well at least that is the effect I was going for!). I have also used some ribbons that was in my drawer, faux stitching together with some Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey and Pretty in Pink cardstock from Stampin Up.

So there you have it my last card as GDT at Papertake. I have had so much fun and would like to thank Dawny and the other DT members for their lovely comments and of course to all of you who managed to pop by and have a look too.

I better dash going to get the kiddies into bed and sit back with a nice cuppa.

Until next time xoxo

Whats going on

Two posts in one day wow don’t expect to see it again for a while!! I don’t normally make 2 cards in one day but as I mentioned before I have a heap of cards I need to get made this week and I am running out of time!

This card is for my Nana’s husband whose birthday is tomorrow. We are celebrating with him tomorrow when my family meets up for dinner at the pub to celebrate Lizzie’s birthday. It was only half through making her card today that I realized I did not have a male card on hand.  The layout is my own, I know I hear you shouting what you did not follow a sketch challenge, LOL! The card does however come into this weeks challenge a Lili of the Valley challenge which is summery. I think this image suits summer to a tee. Wish it was warm here and not the start of winter. Oh well soon enough summer will be back around again and then I will be probably complaining it is too hot!

I have used image from Lili of the Valley, coloured using watercolour pencils, ribbon I had in my stash and patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket. I have also used a couple of kaisercraft pearls and distressed then inked all my edges. It is only just now that I am looking at the card to see if mentioned everything when I noticed that the cardstock I stamped the sentiment (from Kraftin’ Kimmie) onto is actually vanilla not white, oops, somehow though I don’t think he will notice.

Well I better dash I think I will go and make her birthday cake now.

Until next time xoxo

My baby's turning 8!

As I mentioned in my last post it is my baby girls 8th Birthday tomorrow. I still see her as my baby so often when I look at her these days and see such a confident bubbly girl I shake my head in amazement and wonder how did we get here. Lizzie darling I know that you want read this, or who knows maybe you will, but I am so proud of you sweetheart with all that you have already managed to achieve in your short life, I look forward to watching you continue to grow. Happy Birthday for tomorrow princess xo

Sorry for my rambling then but I just wanted to share with you all how proud I am of my baby! Goes without saying that the card I am brining you today is for my special girl. I was looking through the challenges trying to get some inspiration when I came across this weeks challenge at Stamp Something, a sketch.

I then popped over to Anyone for Anya (lots of layers) and saw Stacey’s card with lots of bright colours. Straight away I was inspired and went off for a search in my papers for the brightest, girly colours I could find! This is what I came up with:

I love the Heidi among flowers stamp and think it matches this card well. The papers are pink (not quite as dark as in photo) background from My Little Shoebox-Little ladies-Jana, Blue strip Basic Grey and the green is also from My Little Shoebox, Imagine a forest-get the camera and the chocolate chip from Stampin Up. I have also used my copics for colouring, Apron Strings Fiskars punch, kaisercraft rhinestones, spellbinders Nestabilities, kaisercraft ribbon and love heart pin from Quixotic.

I have lots of cards I need to make this week so hopefully I will be back later today with another card to show you.

Until next time xoxo

Papertake Weekly - Sketch Number 40

If anyone can tell me where the last week has gone I would be very grateful. I had great intentions of getting stuck into some challenges last week but time just got the better of me. I have been running around to appointments with my son and then the weekend went by in a flash with sport Saturday morning and Sunday watching my darling husband play football.

I have however managed to do my 3rd DT card for Papertake Weekly. This week we are sponsored by Sassy Studio’s and were given a few digital stamps to play with. There was no way I could make this weeks card without using one!! The fabulous Dawny has provided another superb sketch for this weeks challenge:

Did you notice no patterned papers? I know I was quite chuffed with myself for not using any!!! It is different to what I would normally do, perhaps a little sexy as my husband has told me. Not sure who or for what occasion I could give the card but oh well I had fun making it.

I have used some black and red cardstock I had laying around. For the top layer of the black cardstock I used my Pokka Dots embossing folder and then gently rubbed over the top with some white acrylic paint to bring out the dots, not sure if you can really see this in the photo. I have also used my copics for colouring, the hair for some reason has come out a lot harsher in this photo (in life the light bounces are a lot softer and more natural looking), ribbon I had in my stash, kaisercraft rhinestones, sparkly Prima Dynasty flower centre has been applied to knot of ribbon tie. The image was cut out and then mounted with some 3D tape. I think I have managed to get it all in.

It is my baby girls’ birthday on Thursday and she is turning 8 so I have been busy this afternoon making cakes to take to netball training tomorrow night and chocolate crackles to take to school on Thursday. Tomorrow I better sit down and make her a special card, she sees everything that I make so she would know if I have not made one especially for her. So all going to plan I will be back tomorrow to show you what I have done.

In the meantime be sure to pop over to Papertake Weekly and look at the other DT’s cards and if you have time pop by their blogs and see what they have been doing.

Until next time xoxo
