Our last challenge for the year at MDUC (sorry its late)

eeek silly logger, I thought my post was scheduled but just realised it had not gone live. I guess now I have realised it is 4 days late I will update what I had written :-)

Well by now we should have all had Christmas and recovering. I hope your Christmas celebrations where wonderful and that you were all spoilt rotten....I know I was! My husband worked Christmas morning so it was very weird for the kids and I to wake up without him here. The kids were so good and had actually decided that they wanted to wait for Michael  to get home from work before they opened their presents which truly melted my heart as they did not want him to miss out on the fun. They have become very good with this and also choose on their birthdays to wait to after school when he is home to open birthday presents. Of course we always give them something small to open in the morning. So I can say that I was very proud of my children.

Now it's time to relax for a few weeks as I am on holidays and the kids are on holidays so lots of relaxing mornings coming our way!

This week it is our last challenge at MDUC for the year and it will be remaining open until the 12th January as we are all taking a break. To make it nice and easy for you we have gone with the anything goes theme..I have seen already this has attracted a lot of entries! Our gorgeous teamie Janiel has donated so rubber as a prize so be sure to stop by the MDUC blog and check it out and the beautiful work o display.

My card is very simple as I just find crafting at this time of the year to be a challenge as I want to be outside enjoying the elements and then by the time I come inside I am just too tiered to craft. Having said that this morning I am going to finish a card I started a few days ago. Anyhow enough waffling here is my card:

So I look forward to seeing all your work and  catching you all in blogland next year.

Until next time xoxo

Magnolia Down Under Challenges - All about books

Good morning everyone...I am slightly late with my post this morning but that is because I just did not get a chance to pre-post it yesterday and I slept in a little today.

So this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges our challenge to you is "All about books" and we have a fab prize from our regular sponsor Tilda's Town. What a great variety of options for you and a great example of the many possible options is on our blog with all the fabulous creations there by my fellow teamies.

So I started my project last weekend and have been slowly working on it during the week finally finishing it off yesterday. In hindsight it did not take that long to do but I just did not have a huge block of time to dedicate to it and I spent too much time thinking of what to do! I have always admired book cards but never made one so that was my challenge to myself this week. At first I thought I would make it a card but then thought about it and thought why not make it a Christmas decoration? The end result is we now have a new Christmas decoration for the year that being a Christmas Story book....I took all my might not to keep adding to the book and to just keep it clean and simple and  I also  thought if it is to last having lots of flowers and embellishments on it is going to wear and look tatty over time....

So here is the front cover.....My vision is that The frame is a window and that you are looking into Santa delivering presents....The fame has clear transparency paper on it which I have also added some dots and flakes using my  stickles too to give the effect of snow (so hard to tell on a picture though) I also used my water colour crayons and created the brown/gold behind Santa's as I imagined once again that you are looking through the window and there is just a slight light from a fire or lamp illuminating the wonder you are seeing..

here is another pic of the front that sort of gives a better picture of what I was saying about the snow on the "glass" and the stickles on the gorgeous frame which you can get from Make it Crafty

the next photo is the inside of the book

I have dabbed the edges of the accordion fold with gold paint and once again added  gold stickles to the corner swirl (once again through Make it Crafty).......The opening of the gate is folded and held together with dimensional tape I was imagining that you are using the gate to enter a park.....the trees I inserted in to different sections of the folds to also add dimension...here is a closer look

So if you have stayed with me to here thank you very much....

I am going to enter my book into the following challenges:

Tilda's Town - Anything Goes
Midweek Magnolias - O Christmas Tree
Marvelous Magnolias - Traditional Christmas Colours
Magnolia-licious Challenges - Sitckles and/or Glitter

Once again thanks for joining me today and I look forward to seeing your interpretation of the our challenge....

Until next time xoxo

Magnolia Down Under Challenges - Christmas Decoration

Good morning everyone I hope you are well.

We have a long weekend here in Melbourne and lucky for my hubby and I my mum called late yesterday evening and asked if they could have the kids for the night and day.....ummmm let me think about that, yes, LOL! My kids just adore spending time at my mum and dads and hubby and I will enjoy a day together.

So this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we want to see you make or alter a Christmas ornament..I just love my new spellbinder floral ovals die and could not resist making it into an ornament for the tree. My hubby actually loved this so much he said I have to make more!

I played around with the colouring a bit....I used my water colour crayons and aqua pen and coloured the background around Tilda just adding lots of colours and blending them in until I was happy. I forgot how much I loved using the crayons...I then drew in some stars and dots to give it a little extra. The back of the ornament (in hindsight should have taken a photo of that) is just plain red and I joined the two pieces together with glue and an extra bit of card stock in the middle to make it stronger.

Now don't forget to stop by MDUC and check out the amazing works on show and to read about our very own Camilla's store who is sponsoring us this week. I look forward to popping by your blogs and looking at your creations.

I am going to enter this into the following:

Midweek Magnolias - Anything Goes
New challenge blog Marvelous Magnolia Challenges - Anything Goes
Simply Magnolia - Sparkles & Swirls (her wings & stars are sparkly)

So that is it from me today. I am going to go off and enjoy this beautiful sunshine with hubby.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time xoxo

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Its beginning to Look a lot like Christmas......Jingle Bells.....Merry & Bright......Well these are the songs going through my mind when I was making this card today...

You see our challenge this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is to make a card that is inspired by a song. As you can tell I could not stick to one my mind was wondering off everywhere while I was making my card and being a Christmas card I could get away with it and add an element of each to it!

I really struggled finishing my card as it was not coming together and no matter what I tried it just looked like someone had vomited on it but in the end after leaving it for an afternoon, coming back to it, leaving it for dinner and then coming back to it I decided to just go with it stick I down and see what happened. Well I felt it was a little unbalanced so I decided to doodle in some white stitching on the black Tilda's lace and although it is partly what it needed clearly  I did not have my straight eyes on... adds to the authenticity of it though, LOL!

The end result is that  I love the colours of the card and had a ball colouring up this gorgeous Tilda but think it is still a little unbalanced but then again I think that we can often be too tough on ourselves and forget that this is a hobby and as long as we have fun making it and are generally happy with the card then that is what matters right?

Anyhow I appreciate the time you have taken to come have a look at my card.

I would love to see you join in with us on this challenge and who knows you might win a prize or be picked in our top 5!  Make sure you go visit the MDUC bog and check out the inspiration but beware you will start humming away as you look through the cards, LOL!

Its time for a new challenge at Magnolia Down Under

Good  morning or evening everyone I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

I know that my posts and few and far between at the moment but as I previously mentioned we have been doing some major renovations at our home over the last 6 months and lets just say it turned everything upside down! Things are slowly getting back to normal but rather than pushing myself back into it I am just taking it easy and crafting when I can....

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we would like to see you use 3 to 4 of your favourite colours. I have used maybe a tad more than that in my card and could say a few with the card stock and dp's and a few in my image colouring.  If you know me well you will know my favourite colours are black and kraft and then I like to add a splash of colour using them as my base. For my card, I have used blues, reds and purples all my favourites.

Now you will remember a few weeks our challenge at MDUC was a pop up card. At the time I sighed a huge sigh of relief that this challenge did not fall on my week but after seeing all the beautiful pop up cards from the entries and of course my fellow teamies I was so inspired I just had to give it a go.

About a month ago (boy was it that long ago already) I went to paperific and got myself lots of new Magnolia stamps to play with including some backgrounds, something I just did not seem to have a lot of...So this card was a great opportunity for me to break out some f the backgrounds and mask them together and try out some new colouring techniques. You will see that I have used the tulip path and the mushrooms (there is actually two on the stamp but I masked out one) and then I started my colouring. I have to say I am quite proud of myself with how this colouring has turned out. I have never tried creating my own grass before and was a little apprehensive but after reading Zoe's tutorial for Magnolia Ink I took some of the points and then off I went....After finishing my grass and feeling rather pleased with myself I decided to try the dot colouring technique again (this was a tutorial on this from Chris Dark in a Magnolia Ink last year) for the sky and was once again quite pleased with it so decided to do it for the path too, adding some grass along the way because lets face it how many country paths do you know that don't have a few stray patches of grass.

Oh well I have been waffling on sorry I better show you some pictures....

I will show you the inside first as this is the bit I am most excited about and you can see what I am talking about when I say about the scene I created....

A Closer look at the scene

And now the front:

I have actually done the inside of the oval covered in cheesecloth, it is of course more effective in real life! I also got to use my Spellbinders die which I have to say I just LOVE LOVE LOVE...

I used the same layout (pretty basic one too) for each of the sides as I did not want to detract for all the other points of the card, if that makes sense.

I have made this card for my mums upcoming birthday as I know she will appreciate the hours of colouring I have done on it.....

I have not entered any challenges lately so thought I would this week:

Deep Ocean Challenges - More than 2 colours
Just Magnolia  Challenges - Anything goes with option of fabric (I have used cheesecloth)
Paper Play Challenges - Shine On (my rainbow and mushroom are shining!)
Mad For Makers - Multi liners ( I have used mine in the sky and path and Tildas to add highlights)

Anyhow that is a very long winded post for me today.....Please stop by the MDUC blog and check out the gorgeous creations on offer and of course to see who our sponsor is this week. I look forward to popping in and seeing your favourite colours!

Thanks for stopping by today, until next time

Eeeeekkkk I thought when I saw this challenge but I managed to do it, cant say that I am completely pleased with the result but that may be just because it is different for me. MY husband and daughter on the other hand love it and I am not sure whether to be insulted or not, LOL!!!!

Now I know I say I every week but do pop by the MDUC Challenge blog to look at the gorgeous inspiration....I was hugely impressed with all the cards we have for you this week to demonstrate the challenge.

We want to see your Red, White & Silver creations this week

Good morning....I hope you are all well.

Firstly I would like to thank Kylie, Karen, Zoe, Debbie & Deborah for a wonderful day/night last Saturday. We had a blast of a day at Paperific and then spent a great evening at Debbie's house sharing many laughs over some champers and dinner.....Just s shame that the day went by so quickly

This week we have a colour challenge for you....Red, White & Silver at Magnolia Down Under Challenges. It is a great colour combo that lends well to Christmas so it is a great time opportunity to make another chrissie card..

By what I have been saying no doubt you can guess I went the Christmas Card option!!

I have actually got more Silver on it than it looks....I got this new Tilda last week and started to colour her up at Debbie's so I finished her off used my new marker/pen (thanks for making me buy it Karen its ace) and added some dots to her dress and tights. The background she is on is also a new purchase from last weekend, I am also glad I brought this one too. Not sure if I liked the snow on the tree but I did it so went with it!

Now be sure to pop by Magnolia Down Under Blog to check out the amazing talent and to see who our weekly sponsor is. I look forward to seeing all your gorgeous creations.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

All Stitched Up!

Don't panic I'm not referring to me....Did I get you there? It is our new challenge for you over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges this week!!!!

I'm rather excited as I made this card from my new craft space!!! Finally I got it all set up, well mostly I am sure there will be some tweaking along the way....

Anyhow as I mentioned this week we want to see you creations using stitching...now that can be fake or real whatever tickles your fancy. I have used fake as I don't own a sewing machine....maybe that should be on my list!

I decided to make a start on my Christmas cards...eeeeeekkkkkkkk where has the year gone? Scary how quickly it seems to pass us by.

Now I am about to dash but before I do please stop by MDUC blog to check out the amazing inspiration that we have on offer. Also see what the prize is this week.

Thanks as always for stopping by, until next time

Its time for another Magnolia Down Under Challenge

Good Morning I know are you in shock I have actually made a card and posting!!!!
Things have been crazy here and that means that my carding has to go to the back burner.
We are nearly finished our renovations which means our house is getting back to normal. Just painting, carpets and then a big clean left to do....I have moved all my stuff into my new craft room but am waiting on the power to be hooked up before I can set it all up.

Anyhow yesterday I pulled come of my craft stuff out and made a card for this weeks challenge at MDUC. We want to see you make a card and matching tag. I have to say I was a little slack with my tag and it is very basic. I was running out time and knowing that I had to pack my stuff up and also knowing that I would not get another chance before the challenge I decided something was better than nothing!

So once again I have been babbling away! I will show you my card:

Not the worlds best photo but it is so dull and drab up here at the moment that is the best I could get.

I used my new Tilda (Tilda with daises and mushrooms) from the latest collection. Isn't she cute? I love how versatile this Tilda is. Seeming I have not picked up a copic for over a month I think I did pretty well.

So be sure to pop over to MDUC and see the gorgeous DT creations and to see what prize we have on offer this week.

Thanks for stopping by, I promise I will start to be more organised soon and creating more regularly.

Until next time xoxox

MDUC - Photo Inspiration and most importantly a SURPRISE Baby Shower

I know I have been really absent from blogging land lately but we are currently renovating and our house is just a shambles. A few weeks ago also all my craft supplies where packed up so I have not been able to even look at my stuff. Our computer is also packed up making looking at blogs on my iPhone really hard!To be honest though between the house, being crazy busy at work (nearly working full time hours), the kids and the school holidays I barely would have the energy to craft. Luckily though things are starting to calm down and my new craft room is 3/4 finished, yippee! I am so excited it to have this space and to feel that I have to get a project finished the same day as my old craft area was in the lounge so I had to make sure that I kept the desk clean and tidy.

Anyhow onto my postfor today. Our fellow teamie Louise is ready to have a baby any day now. Louise is a truly beautiful, caring, chirpy lady. We are so lucky to have her on our team and most importantly as our friend. Now as we are all spread over the world it was decided that this week we would have a surprise baby shower for her. We gave Louise a different photo (not too different ) to what we had, I know tricky hey!!! I nearly doubled over with laughter the other week when she was asking about where to find the photo for this weeks challenge!

Hunni I hope you have enjoyed your surprise! We cant wait for bubba to arrive and see lots of photos.

Here is what I made for her ( I did manage to whip this up a few weeks ago before my stuff got packed up). I have to say I am not overly in love with my colouring but it was my third attempt....

and here is the inspiration:

I have taken the pinks, greens and the bows.

I really hope you take the chance to pop over to MDUC and check out the amazing creations made for Louise and of course to come join us as we celebrate Louise and the arrival of her new baby.

Thanks for stopping by today, until next time.

MDUC - Seeing Double

Happy Sunday everyone....I hope you are having a great weekend and getting lots of crafting done!

Today is new challenge day at MDUC and this week we want to see doubles! Yep nice and easy just use two of something the same, i.e. stamp, flowers, die, paper the possibilities are endless! You can see some great examples at the MDUC blog...

I decided to double up on a few things this week, I used the same flower more than once, my new corner die twice, two types of ribbon....

I love this new Tilda she is just adorable.

So what you waiting for! Getting crafting! Looking forward to seeing all your entries!

Have a great day everyone.
Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Handmade Embellishments at MDUC

Good morning everyone I hope you are well.

I know it has been a long time since I last posted but between our renovations, sick kids, school holidays, birthdays, work and some medical news I just have not had a chance to hit my desk. I did however sit down last week and make this card for my mum for mothers day. Talking of which I hope you all had a great day.

This week at MDUC we would like to see you make some of your own embellishments. You can make as little or as much as you like! I have to say that with my limited creative time I went the minimum option for this challenge but I do like the way they blend in with the other flowers I have used.

I also made up my own sentiment on the computer so I often consider this a making your own embellishment as you are adding something to the card!

Now be sure to stop by MDUC and check out the awesome cards made by the ladies and to see what our fantastic sponsor has on offer for you this week.

I am also excited to say that I was recently approached by a craft site called  Crafts Corner as they wanted to feature me on their best of the web page. I was a little taken back that they ha found my little blog and that they thought I was good enough to feature! Here is the link to my feature. Whilst you are there be sure to check out the rest of their site as it has heaps of crafting ideas, news on there to read a really interesting.

Well that is it for me today.  Hubby and I decided to have a weekend of rest this weekend so not sure what today will bring us. Best I get up and start figuring it out.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

MDUC - Anything but a card - alter something

Good morning everyone, today is our new challenge over at MDUC which is anything but a card - alter something. Our very own Karen is our sponsor this week.

I decided to paint up some bare photo frames that I picked up from Ikea the other week. I thought that a set of these would look nice in Elizabeth's room. I also thought that these could be good to sell at a market.

I will be doing a third one of these but I just simply ran out of time. We are currently renovating and our house is shambles, plus my son has had chicken pox this week.

Anyhow I best be off now, typing this in advance and just been told have to head off down to Bunnings.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

A wedding Card

On Sunday I was a matron of honor in a wedding for our good friends Adrian & Andrea. My husband was also the best man so it was nice that we got to dress up and act all fancy together! The weather was absolutely beautiful and of course the bride looked very pretty. Anyhow last week I sat down and made their card. I actually made their invitations at the beginning of the year and held back some of the lace and ribbon I used. I then used the main colours of their invitations/wedding theme and coloured the gorgeous Mo Manning image.

I actually mucked up with colouring this image as I added to much grey in the shading (as picked up the wrong copic) taking away from the white but decided rather than start again to experiment. I ended up getting out my old stampin up watercolour crayons and going over the image in white crayon using my aqua painter. It actually worked, bringing out some nice highlights, although not sure how effective it would be if I had lots of colour work.

School has gone back this week but my little man has the chicken pox. I am now stuck at home again (not so good when you have a million and one things to do) so hopefully I will get some crafting down over the next few days. I feel like everything has been so crazy here lately and that my crafting is what has been sacrificed.

Anyhow I best be going, time to make some lunch I am told!

Thanks for stopping by today, until next time

Its been a while

I know it has been a few weeks since my last post but life has been CRAZY! We have started our renovations which have been sending the house into turmoil and we have also been celebrating my sons 8th Birthday. We started with a birthday party for him at home on the 1st day of school holidays with 17 kids and then we continued the fun on Easter Friday (his birthday) at home again with family for another party. All partied out! In between we have been having bucks and hens nights for our friends and getting ready for their wedding this Sunday.

Anyhow I thought I would get a chance to show you this card earlier this week or even last week but i have barely been able to get to the computer! This is the card I made for Robbie's birthday. He loves sitting in his room strumming his guitar so when I saw this stamp I thought it was perfect. It is the first La-La Land Crafts stamp I have ever brought and have to say I enjoyed the big space to colour.

It is very hard to find to make boys card, well for me so it was a struggle Have to say I am pretty happy with the end result not too old not too babyish.

So there you have it. I have got a few other cards that I made recently which I will share soon.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time

Be sure to pop by MDUC as there are some gorgeous creations and of course to check out the BINGO board. being shared. I think I say that every fortnight but it is so true!

Anyhow I am off now.

Monochromatic Month at Mad for Markers Challenges

*For my Tickled Pink Blog Hop post please see below*

Good morning everyone I hope this post finds you well.

We have just come off a long weekend here in Melbourne this weekend so in my mind I still feel like its Monday! We had a mixed weekend filled with shopping for things for our renovations, sleepovers, play dates and sadly the passing of our beloved dog Wellington. We inherited Wellie from my parents after he kept walking up to the main street in Sassafras and sitting on the deck on one of the cafes. The owners did not mind they even feed him baguettes and had his own water bowl but someone did and they used to take him into the pound all the time. Mum and Dad have a reasonable size property and it was not fenced and they thought it was to cruel to keep him chained up all day long so that is how we ended up with him.

I will be the first to admit that he drove me absolutely crazy as he hated people walking at a height above where he is and unfortunately that is how the walking path is situated at our house so that meant he barked quite a bit. As he got older (he was 15 years old) he was deaf and losing his eyesight. In having said that though my children adored him. They have always known as a family to have Wellie and now he is gone they are struggling. So a rather sad end to the weekend.

Anyhow on to the this months challenge at Mad for Makers. We want to see your monochromatic creations.

I was a tad put off by this challenge so chickened out and went with the greys option...Maybe for my next sample I will try something a little more challenging!!

No card for me today just a colouring sample. Time does not seem to be on my side at the moment.
Be sure to pop by each day to get your daily inspiration fix!

For all those copic needs you can pop into Mad for Markers store. Sammi also has a great range of stamps on offer too.

Thanks for stopping by today, until next time

Tickled Pink Stamps Around the World Blog Hop

*For my Magnolia Down Under post please see below*

So did you enjoy the Tickled Pink Previews this week. I just adore this new release loving the diversity of the images. Kellie aka the boss was also very excited about this release and as such decided we should do a blog hop, something she has not done for a while, to showcase these cuties and to give you all some more chances to win!

Now if you have been following the hop from the start you should have come here from Angela's blog if not then make sure you head back Amy's to start and I will see you again soon!

Of yeah I forgot to tell you that Kellie has decided that we can each of us give can give away one digital image to one lucky commenter and one lucky girl that goes back to the  Tickled Pink Stamps blog to let us know they have left a comment on each blog is in the draw to win all 4 amazing images!

I decided to use Lil Aussie Lolita Kellita being an Aussie myself and all. I wanted to keep my card quite simple and try to incorporate some of our Aussie colours, being gold and green.

So there is my card....Now your next stop is to Debbie.

You have until the 13th to take the world hop and have a chance to WIN. All winners will be announced on the 15th so be sure to come back then to see if your one of the lucky winners...

These Lil Lolita's are available in store now and will have 15% for the next 24 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to come by today and check out my card and leave your comments. Until next time

It's Magnolia Down Under Challenges 3rd Birthday

I am excited to bring you this post today as it is in celebration of the 3rd Birthday of Magnolia Down Under Challenges. I have been with the DT for just under a year now and I can say that this group of ladies are some of the nicest I have come across. I love checking in with the ladies, we talk about so much more than just carding.

Anyhow to celebrate the 3rd Birthday there is also a new look on the Blog. There are also some new blinkies so make sure you pop by to check out the look and update your blinkie.

Of course being a birthday celebration our theme this week is Birthday and everyone has joined in. So lots of eye candy for you to have a look at starting here with mine

I got these gorgeous papers the other week from my Local store and they are by Websters. They are so pretty and I think perfect for the Magnolia's. As there is a lot of work going on with the layers and paper I decided to keep my embellishments simple and understated as I did not want to hide them.

I hope you have enjoyed my card and I really do you hop over to MDUC to see the new look and the other ladies creations.

Thanks for stopping by today, until next time
